Controller | Private Country Club (Louisville, KY)

One of Louisville’s premier private, member‑owned country clubs is seeking an experienced Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations for the Club.

This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting support, member billing accuracy, and day‑to‑day accounting functions. This position partners closely with the Club Manager, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors to provide clear, timely financial insights that drive sound decision‑making.

What You’ll Do

Financial Management & Reporting

• Oversee all accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, GL, bank reconciliations, and cash management
• Prepare monthly financial statements, cash flow reports, and variance analyses
• Monitor budget vs. actuals and recommend corrective actions
• Support annual budgeting and forecasting
• Manage capital tracking, fixed assets, and depreciation
• Present financial reports to leadership, Finance Committee, and Board

Member Billing & Club Systems

• Ensure accurate and timely member billing, collections, and account reconciliation
• Oversee daily posting and account integrity
• Serve as system lead for JONAS Club Management Software
• Partner with department leaders to streamline financial processes

Compliance, Controls & Risk

• Establish and maintain strong internal controls
• Ensure compliance with tax and reporting requirements
• Coordinate annual audits with external auditors
• Maintain insurance coverage and safeguard confidential information

Payroll & Administrative Oversight

• Oversee payroll, timekeeping, and benefits administration
• Maintain accurate employee records and compliance documentation

Leadership & Collaboration

• Act as a trusted financial partner across the organization
• Provide financial guidance to support operational decisions
• Identify efficiencies and process improvements to strengthen financial health

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience
• Private club, hospitality, or service‑industry experience strongly preferred
• JONAS Club Management Software experience
• Advanced Excel and reporting skills
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls expertise
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion
• Ability to work on‑site
• CPA or CMA a plus
