Job Description

Job Title: Process Engineer
Location: Midvale, UT (100% Onsite Position Monday-Friday) 
Duration: Contract to Direct hire, long-term
Pay range: $50-$70/hr DOE

Job Responsibilities

• Lead process engineering efforts to support project execution and deliverables.
• Collaborate with project managers, international process teams, EPC firms, and multidisciplinary engineering groups (mechanical, electrical, structural, and controls) to ensure alignment, clear communication, and successful project execution across multiple time zones.
• Develop process data sheets and perform equipment sizing calculations.
• Communicate process design requirements clearly to design and engineering teams.
• Lead the development of key process deliverables, including P&IDs, PFDs, material and energy balances, control philosophies, and functional specifications.
• Develop and support project deliverables such as valve lists, instrument lists, tie-point lists, I/O lists, and line lists in alignment with process design requirements.
• Review client specifications and ensure process designs comply with all technical and contractual requirements.
• Identify and recommend improvements to process designs, systems, and engineering workflows.
• Support multiple projects simultaneously (typically 3-4), depending on project phase and workload.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while coordinating with teams to meet schedule targets.
• Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and are completed on time and within budget.
• Provide process engineering support across multiple projects in coordination with global teams outside standard office hours as needed.
  

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• 2-5 years of relevant chemical engineering and project experience.
• Strong knowledge of process engineering principles and design practices.
• Proficiency in developing P&IDs, PFDs, material and energy balances, control philosophies, and functional specifications.
• Experience specifying valves, instrumentation, pumps, heat exchangers, and piping systems.
• Ability to define instrumentation and control requirements.
• Working knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering coordination (mechanical, structural, electrical, and automation).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
• Basic proficiency in AutoCAD.
