The Department of Classics in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for a one-year non-renewable position as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Classics, with specialization in the histories of Greece and Rome. The appointment will begin on August 15, 2026, and entails a 2/2 or 2/3 teaching load. Teaching duties will include Greek History, Roman History, in addition to one of our advanced Civilization courses in the Spring (Athenian Democracy; History of Medicine; Ancient Warfare, vel sim.). A Ph.D. in Classics or a related field by the time of the appointment is expected, although we will also consider advanced Ph.D. candidates.
Candidates who are not US citizens are eligible for this position provided that they are already studying or working in the United States.
